Who Can Apply? Eligibility Criteria for The Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2025
To be eligible for the Swedish Institute (SI) Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2025, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Country of Citizenship: This scholarship is open to female citizens from 10 eligible countries. These include:
- Bangladesh
- Indonesia
- Kenya
- Malaysia
- Nigeria
- Philippines
- Rwanda
- South Africa
- Thailand
- Vietnam
2. Designated Master’s Programmes: The scholarship is only available for select English-taught master’s programs in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Make sure to check the list of eligible master’s programmes for the academic year 2025/2026.
3. University Admissions: You need to apply through the University Admissions portal and gain admission to one of the eligible master’s programmes by the announcement date.
4. Previous Degrees or Residence in Sweden: If you’ve already received an SI Scholarship or completed a degree in Sweden, unfortunately, you are not eligible to apply.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
The Swedish Institute (SI) Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2025 is a highly competitive, fully-funded scholarship that offers the following benefits:
- Full Tuition Fee Coverage: SI will pay your tuition fees directly to your Swedish university at the start of each semester.
- Monthly Stipend: Receive a stipend of SEK 12,000 per month to cover living expenses throughout your studies.
- Travel Grant: A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (applicable only to students residing outside Sweden).
- Professional Network Access: Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP), giving you access to a platform that supports professional growth and networking opportunities in Sweden.
- SI Alumni Network: Once your scholarship ends, join the SI Alumni Network for continued networking and professional development.
Please Note: What the Scholarship Does Not Cover are:
- Insurance: The scholarship does not include health insurance, so check with your university regarding coverage.
- Family Support: Additional grants for family members are not provided.
- Application Fees: The scholarship does not cover the University Admissions application fee.
- Programme Changes: The scholarship is tied to the specific master’s programme you were accepted into and cannot be transferred to another course.
- Extensions: The scholarship period is fixed and cannot be extended.
Key Dates and Application Timeline
15 October 2024 – 15 January 2025: Application window to Swedish master’s programmes through the University Admissions portal.
3 February 2025: Deadline for submitting application fees and supporting documents.
27 March 2025: University Admissions results announcement.
24 April 2025: SI Scholarship award announcement.
How to Apply for the Swedish Institute Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship 2025
1. Select Your Master’s Programme: Browse eligible STEM master’s programmes and choose your preferred course.
2. Apply Through University Admissions: Complete your application through the University Admissions website.
3. Notify SI of Your Application: Inform the Swedish Institute that you have applied for the master’s programme.
4. Receive Notifications: Wait for notifications from University Admissions and the Swedish Institute regarding your application status. Like I said before, the application deadline is 15 January 2025.
